Some of our favorite places to eat

  • Eventide Oyster Co.

Our favorite restaurant in all of Portland. Highlights from the menu are the oysters, the Eventide brown butter Lobster Roll, and their side of potato chips.

  • Fore Street Restaurant

More on the fancier side. Menu changes daily and is locally sourced. If you want to make a reservation, make sure to do it over a month in advance.

  • Gilbert's Chowder House

The best clam chowder in Portland. We recommend their Clam and Super Seafood chowders, as well as their fried calamari.

They don't take reservations, so just walk in!

  • ISF Trading Co.

A very unconventional recommendation, as it's quite literally a warehouse. But we promise you'll never eat better uni and sashimi than the one you eat here.

Check out their seafood menu here.

  • The Holy Donut

Portland's famous potato donuts. We highly recommend their old fashioned donut, their chocolate sea salt donut, and their bacon and cheddar stuffed donut.

  • The Highroller Lobster

Because you're in Maine, and you will definitely want to take advantage and eat more lobster. Casual diner style restaurant, no reservation needed.

  • Gross Confection Bar

A dessert restaurant and bar. We recommend getting an entourage board so you can get multiple desserts (hint: get their their warm brown butter cake).

Things to do and places to visit

Lighthouse Cruise

Portland Schooner (which also operates our reception venue!) offers a variety of tours and activities out in the Portland harbor. It’s a family-friendly way to check out Maine’s coastline, complete with lighthouses, seals, and historic forts.

Other state parks

Any state park in the Portland area is worth a visit. We recommend Two Lights State Park, which has picnic tables, iconic cliffsides, and other places to relax. Make sure to stop by Kettle Cove Ice Cream and Shack on the way back!

Acadia National Park

About two hours away from Portland by car, this park is one of a handful of US National Parks entirely located on an island. Perfect for camping, hiking, and enjoying the best Maine views.

Check their website for any information and reservations you might need to do for vehicles or other activities.

Allagash Brewing Company

Tasting room with a lot of beer options. Family-friendly, with food trucks if you’d like to accompany your beer with a snack.
